Yara Shahidi Now Has Her Own Barbie

Yara Shahidi is living out a dream.

The 20-year-old “Black-ish” star is now in Barbie form, as part of the company’s celebration of both their 60th anniversary and International Women’s Day.

And when Shahidi learned of the news, she said it was a dream she never thought she could have achieved, “It’s really surreal just because this was never within my realm of possibility. I never thought, ‘Oh yeah, one day I’ll have my own doll’ or anything like that.”

Shahidi is one of 20 role models honoured by Barbie, including German track cyclist Kristina Vogel, French director Lisa Azuelos, and Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka.

The “Grown-ish” actress said it’s truly an honour, “It really amplifies and reaffirms this idea that we can excel in whatever field.”

Shahidi’s doll features very close likeness to herself, in her signature “Vote” t-shirt and grey power suit.
