Power Plays Small Business Summit Elevates Women of Color

The second annual Power Plays small-business summit was held at the Rita Rossi Colwell Center in Baltimore, MD, on June 10th, 2023. Over 150 attendees gathered for a day of concurrent panel discussions and networking with women from diverse backgrounds who have successfully navigated launching, scaling, and innovating in businesses in a variety of industries. This event brought to you by Color Vision and The Well offered an often missed connection between well-planned strategy, productivity and space for innovation and creativity.

According to JP Morgan, black women are the fastest-growing demographic of entrepreneurs, yet they are often the least funded. Due to this staggering statistic, Power Plays held its first-ever pitch competition, awarded to small businesses with $2,000 in funding.

Attendees also heard from panelists with expertise in raising capital, branding, marketing, etc.

The day we ended with a Power Plays Playground happy hour sponsored by Ketel One Botanicals. Guests enjoyed the delicious flavors of Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit, Ketel One Botanical Cucumber, and Ketel One Botanical Peach. The delightful cocktails were the perfect treat after a long day of learning and engaging.

"It's about lifting as you climb, reaching out, and helping each other," Mia Davis, the founder of Color Vision, said.

We're already looking forward to next year!

The Power Plays Summit 2023 was brought to you by Ketel One Botanicals, M&T Bank, The Light Incubator Baltimore and Baltimore Community Lending.
