Corporate and Multicultural Communications Manager (Nissan)

The Corporate and Multicultural Communications Manager develops and executes a comprehensive communications plan including strategy for DEI initiatives, multicultural communications goals for the Nissan and INFINITI brands, budget, and tactics; develops and executes a comprehensive philanthropy communications plan for the Nissan Foundation, including strategy, goals, and tactics; and provides executive visibility support.

This position will be primarily located in Franklin, Tennessee; but a remote-work arrangement will be considered for strongly qualified candidates in the Southeast region, who can travel to Nissan headquarters when needed. 

Multicultural Communications:

  • Develop communications programs that effectively reach and engage defined audiences (e.g., media, community influencers, consumers, third-party organizations, etc.), driving awareness of initiatives and enhancing overall brand image and advocacy.

  • Serve as cross-functional thought partner and advisor who drives the external DEI and community communications strategies.

  • Monitors and keeps teams abreast of relevant conversations taking place in the earned media landscape related to DEI, while fostering relationships with industry trades and beat reporters.

  • Constructs develop and execute PR strategies for DEI and community announcements in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage agency partners to build multicultural campaigns around the product, technology, and other key company priorities.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing Communications to tell compelling Nissan diversity stories with external audiences through corporate social channels; provide counsel on Marketing Communications Diversity campaigns, as warranted.

  • Draft speeches and messaging for executive leadership on diversity topics for external audiences.

  • Serve as main communications contact for America’s Diversity Office on external diversity communications issues and opportunities.

  • Key integration point for Product/Technology teams, Supplier Diversity, and Dealer Diversity staff on diversity issues.

  • Represent the brand at events.

Philanthropy Communications/Nissan Foundation Communications:

  • Work with the head of philanthropy and the Nissan Foundation to tell stories that highlight the brand’s giving and community support.

  • Create content for press releases and media announcements.

  • Collaborate with and manage agency partners to develop program-specific communications recommendations.

  • Conduct media outreach for philanthropic/Nissan Foundation opportunities.

Executive Visibility Support:

  • Write/update executive bios and coordinate photography/headshots for www.nissannews.com

  • Manage media training for executives and other SMEs.

  • Maintain and manage Nissan’s Next Generation Speaker’s Bureau.

  • Support coordination of executive speaking engagements.

Resource Management/Administration

  • Develops and manages all resources to support and guide the ownership of communications & PR programs (e.g., budget, agency support, team support, etc.).

  • Executes programs within established budgets and keeps management informed of any unforeseen variances.

  • Provides Director and Senior Manager with regular updates on resource management (e.g., quarterly budget updates/projections, agency support, etc.).

  • Completes all routine administrative functions (e.g., expense reports, budgets, etc.) in an accurate and timely fashion.

Ability to manage multiple daily, short-term and long-term deadlines and priorities simultaneously. Excellent efficiency, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail. Experience in ‘managing’ agency teams and working cross-functionally in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Experience:
7+ years of directly related professional-level experience, including writing, media relations (preferably with diversity media), giving presentations, executive engagement, and developing programs for multicultural audiences.  Experience developing and managing high-level, multi-faceted plans with budget responsibility.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related discipline. 

Computer Skills:
Thorough computer knowledge of common PC applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Share Point.
